Beef Noodle Soup



2 pcs premium beef shank (more tendon lining in between meat)
1 chopped onion
1 tsp chopped garlic
2-3 slices of ginger
1 tomato (optional)
1 carrot (optional)
2 star anise
1/2 tsp 5spice
1 tsp brown sugar
1/4 cup kikoman soysauce
cilantro
4-5 cups water

  1. boil 4 cups water with (si-bhut) for 30 minutes then use a strainer to separate the soup stock from the herbs, or you can just use plain water and let it boil then go to the next step.
  2. add the meat( cut into cubes), garlic, ginger, tomato, star anise, 5spice,brown sugar and soysauce. When it boils lower the heat and cook for one to two hours depending on the tenderness of the meat.
  3. optional step : you may add the carrots after the soup has been cooked for one hour.
  4. in a bowl place some boiled noodles add some beef soup and some fresh cilantro.
