Cream Cheese Cookies with Frosting




8 oz ceam cheese
6 tbsp butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg yolk
2 1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp vanilla / almond extract (optional)

frosting
3 tbsp water
2 tbsp white sugar
1 cup sugar powder
3 tbsp milk
2-3 drops almond extract
food coloring


  1. place the cream cheese and butter in a microwavable bowl and DEFROST for 2-3 mins , a bit soft but still holds its form.
  2. use a mixer mix the butter and cream cheese, add egg yolk and sugar, mix until creamy, start adding flour one cup at a time, add the vanilla or almond extract.
  3. place in cookie presser or use a spoon to scoop out some dough and form into a ball and press in the cookie sheet using the back of the spoon
  4. bake for 15 mins at 350F . after baking let it cool for 1-2 mins before removing from pan.
  5. for the frosting make a light syrup by adding sugar and water , let it boil at low heat, then add the powder sugar , milk and almond extract, turn the heat off and continue stiring until there is no lump from sugar. add coloring
  6. use a small plastic bag or sandwich bag to put the frosting, cut the edge of the plastic to pipe the icing out, do this quickly or the icing will dry up fast.
