1 kg pork hocks
3 tbsp oil
1 chopped onion
2 tbsp chopped garlic
2 laurel leaves
1 star anise
1/4 cup soysauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup vinegar
2 cups water
some spring onions (optional)
- boil pork hocks for 2 mins , wash/ rinse the hock to remove the blood.
- heat oil saute galic, onion, laurel leaves and staranise.
- when onions begins to brown add in the pork hocks stir for 1-2 mins then start adding soysauce, sugar and vinegar, stir to coat all sides of the pork with sauce when sauce starts to boil add the water , cover and let it boil under high heat for few mins then turn the heat to low and let it cook for 1 1/2 hours, to thcken the sauce turn the heat to high stirring occasionally until the sauce is reduced to desired consistency, you may add more sugar or soysauce according to preference.
- sprinkle some springonions and cover for few mins before serving.
