Lasagna


makes two tray

18 pcs lasagna noodles cooked according to package direction

tomato sauce
700grams lean ground beef
300 grams lean ground pork
1 large onion chopped
2 tbsp minced garlic
3 cans tomato paste
1/2 tsp dried basil
1 cup water
salt and pepper to taste
2 tbsp brown sugar
1-2 tbsp cornstarch dissolved in 4 tbsp water

white sauce
2 cups water
2 small cans  cream of mushroom
3 tbsp cheez whiz
1/4 cup cornstarch dissolved in 1/2 cup water

2 cups grated mozzarella and cheddar cheese

  1. stir fry the beef  in a non-stick pan, when some juices and fats starts to become visible saute the garlic , onion, add basil, ground pork, stir and cook for few minutes , until no raw meat is visible then add the tomato paste, brown sugar and water, let it simmer for 5-10 minutes then add the cornstarch mixture to thicken the sauce, season with salt and pepper to taste,  set aside.
  2. in a sauce pan add all the ingredients for the white sauce let it cook in medium heat until it boils, stirring occassionally. it should become a thick sauce. set aside
  3. for the first tray place 3 pcs of lasagna pasta on the first layer of the pan, add the tomato sauce , then a layer of pasta again, then the white sauce, then the final layer of pasta then some more tomato sauce then sprinkle top with grated cheese. repeat for the ssecond tray.
  4. broil in oven under low heat for 20-30 minutes, or bake for 30 minutes at 350F.
  5. remove from oven let it cool for 40 minutes before slicing.
